diversity in forks WA.?
I never understood Hollywood. I know the movie industry doesn’t care about accuracy and that really bugs me.
did anyone notice that in the film was quite “diverse?” I have no qualms with the presence of native americans, asians, etc. it makes perfect sense for a town that is on the west coast to have a sizable asian population.
it also makes sense for a town near a reservation to have a sizable native american population.
but the casting of extras drove me up the wall, and it didn’t make sense!
I looked up the census of the town of forks. with a population of 3,120, i was shocked it could support a highschool. I took a hard look at that map, it’s a pretty isolated village.
as of 2000, the town had 13 black people. apparently, all of them went to highschool with bella!
AND
there are probably 110 hispanic people in forks, and i guess none of them went to Catherine Hardwicke’s version of Forks High.
what’s up with that?!?!?!
hollywood has always been racist. they are responsible in large part for the stereotypes of native and other people. it should not be a surprise.
