Is traveling to London and France safe?
My french class is going to France and London for a school trip in the summer. My parents think because of the terrorism that has been going on, they think something will happen to me. My dad who was in the military was telling me that London and France were hot spots for bombs to go off, and he told me his experience with terrorism. Do you think it’s still safe to travel there even when I am with a tour group and my school all of the time?
London suffered from 30 years of terrorism courtesy of the IRA.
We suffered it, we got past it, we swept up the debris and finally we are free of it.
In recent years Muslim terrorists bombed 3 trains and a bus in London on one day.
The chances of being killed by a terrorist bomb in London is similar to the odds of being mowed down by a drunk driver in your home town. VERY VERY small.
One thing to remember. If your parents stop you doing this trip because of fear of terrorism or you change your lifestyle because of terrorism the b******s win!!
The IRA just missed me twice. I was the first vehicle stopped going on to Cavendish Square in London when they planted a rubbish bin bomb next to where I would have been parked. 5 minutes later it went off.
I drove past the Baltic Exchange 10 minutes before that went off too.
Never did I once consider stopping driving in London.
