Selective Rendering for 3D Maps
$114.71
Whereas classic maps provide a fine abstract representation of our world, besides a simple and efficient way to navigate in that world, they are of little use when we are unable to determine where we are standing on the map. On the other hand, mobile devices are potential sources of relevant information, representing an immense help in several locating related tasks, such as navigating rapidly around an unfamiliar environment and exploring it interactively, through the use of appropriate 3D models. However, these 3D models typically require significant computational resources making it hard to achieve highfidelity rendering of the maps at interactive rates. This book investigates how existing mobile devices could be provided with a perceptually high quality 3D virtual environment, based on the exploitation of identified limitations of the Human Visual System and the rendering of its corresponding key features through the use Selective Rendering techniques. Precisely, such a strategic and original process allows key features to be rendered in a higher quality, while the remaining parts can be rendered in low quality without the viewer being aware of this quality difference. Linear Map
$117.9
In mathematics, a linear map is a function between two vector spaces that preserves the operations of vector addition and scalar multiplication. The expression linear operator is commonly used for linear maps from a vector space to itself. In advanced mathematics, the definition of linear function coincides with the definition of linear map. In the language of abstract algebra, a linear map is a homomorphism of vector spaces, or in the language of category theory a morphism in KVect, the category of vector spaces over a given field K. Simplicial Map
$71.7
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In the mathematical discipline of simplicial homology theory, a simplicial map is a map between simplicial complexes with the property that the images of the vertices of a simplex always span a simplex. Note that this implies that vertices have vertices for images.Simplicial maps are thus maps defined on a finite number of points, and there exists a finite amount of them which can be defined between any two given simplicial complexes. Simplicial maps induce continuous maps between the underlying polyhedra of the simplicial complexes: one simply extends linearly using barycentric coordinates. What successes and mistakes made, during the time period between wars in Europe, can we apply to today’s world?
One thing they did after WW1, was they punished Germany to such a degree that the country became bankrupt, it couldn’t pay its debts, and the German mark (the old German currency) was worthless. However, doing this ruined the entire international market, which was probably one of the major, initial causes of the Great Depression. So, after WW2, instead of doing this again, they helped instead to rebuild Germany. You could say, this was a lesson they learned.
Also, another major change in thinking was what they called the ‘Balance of Power.’ They believed that by having a whole bunch of kingdoms allied together against each other, they could dissuade their enemies from going to war. If there was war, every kingdom would be drawn into the fight because they had all agreed to help each other.
Basically, the Balance of Power never worked, because when a minor conflict did happen, they all ended up fighting even when they did not want to.
Instead, they created the League of Nations, and eventually the United Nations. You can look to at the difference between the League of Nations and the United Nations, and see why the first failed, that would also be another major change.

France Between the Wars: Gender and Politics
$63.65
France Between the Wars challenges a prevailing assumption that women had little influence or power in France during the interwar period. Sian Reynolds shows how women in fact had both autonomy and authority within the political arena through their activities in social work, peace movements and strikes, and in other areas less directly linked with conventional politics. Reynolds brings together two kinds of history: the political history of France between the wars as it appears in general textbooks, and the work carried out in womens history covering the same period. In doing so she creates a history in which gender contributes in new ways to historical analysis. The book is not, however, concerned exclusively with critical hariography. It is also the result of the authors and others recent empirical and archival research. As such, it is a book which will appeal to both those studying French history and womens history. Croatia: Between Europe and the Balkans
$254.9
Croatia, Between Europe and the Balkans addresses the key developments in economics, politics, international relations and social policy in the state over the last decade. It places these developments in their historical context, and shows how current policy dilemmas are structured within the conflicting pressures which historically have pulled Croatia between a European, a Mediterranean and a Balkan orientation. In the new context of European integration however, Croatia may now find a new role in her pivotal position as a bridge between the unruly Balkans and an impatient Europe. This book will be of particular use for courses on Eastern Europe. Its thorough, uptodate analysis will also be of interest to students and researchers in politics and international relations, but with a broader appeal to diplomats, policy makers, trade officials, the business community and consultants expanding their trading links with the region.
