Out Town Los

Does the Metrolink take you to Thai Town, or close to it?
I am trying to plan a trip with the wife, but due to gas prices, we want to take the Metrolink, but we are trying to find out if the metrolink has a stop close to Thai Town in Los Angeles.
No, it doesn’t come close to Thai Town. The best way to get there would be to take metrolink to Union Station then transfer to the Metro RED LINE towards North Hollywood and get off at the Hollywood/Western station. Thai town is just east of the station.

Standing in the Shadows of Motown $9.65 The phenomenal story of Motown has been told many times–so many in fact, that the notion of an untold part of its legacy seems far-fetched. But as the documentary film Standing in the Shadows of Motown demonstrates, there was more to the success of the Detroit-based label than singing babes in gowns and founder Berry Gordy’s business acumen. There was also the self-named Funk Brothers: the sessio… |

Chinatown $4.95 Roman Polanski’s brooding film noir exposes the darkest side of the land of sunshine, the Los Angeles of the 1930s, where power is the only currency–and the only real thing worth buying. Jack Nicholson is J.J. Gittes, a private eye in the Chandler mold, who during a routine straying-spouse investigation finds himself drawn deeper and deeper into a jigsaw puzzle of clues and corruption. The glamor… |

Northern Exposure – The Complete Sixth Season $14.49 And so, the sun sets on Cicely, Alaska. While Northern Exposure somewhat jumped the moose in its last season, there are enough characteristically “weird, almost surreal” moments to make season 6 a nice place to revisit. The auspicious season opener, “Dinner at Seven Thirty,” is a typically disarming and disorienting quirk fest that recasts the characters in a parallel New York universe. Dr. Joel F… |

From the Bones Out by de los Santos, Marisa [Paperback] $28.86 My lover tells me I am like this place./I tell him what I miss: the slap of leaves/on skin and air thats like a damp embrace . The poems of this debut have a Cinderellalike innocence, transforming ugliness into beauty and waving the wand of wellcrafted metaphor over all they encounter. The horrific suicide of a grandfather, a mothers cancer, the mourning for a stillborn child, the potential foreclosure of a neighbors farm are all recounted with a refined clarity. Yet through it all, de los Santos manages to frame lifes traumas with a voice that can seem borrowed from the Stage Manager in Our Town: Some years/were fair, but most were bad./The taxes, worse than weevil, tried/to take each dime she had . However, there are also poems, such as Ios Gift , that evoke, through their subtlety and sensuality, the pleasures of the everchanging consciousness of the female body: I learned myself, bit/ by bit, or maybe I/ should say I dawned/ upon myself, a slow dawning . There are also glamorous poems, including Supermodel , and Perfect Dress , in which the poet indulges in herself as an object of perfect beauty: Someone will murmur, /She is sublime, /will be precisely right, and I will step, /with incandescent shoulders, / into my perfect evening . In its worked simplicity, this is a first book that offers a formula of hope and clarity when confronting lifes trials and tribulations. Simons Town $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Simons Town is a village and a naval base in South Africa, near Cape Town. It is located on the shores of False Bay, on the eastern side of the Cape Peninsula. For more than two centuries it has been an important naval base and harbour (first for the Royal Navy and now the South African Navy). The town is named after Simon van der Stel, an early governor of the Cape Colony. The land rises steeply from near the waters edge and the picturesque village is boxed in along the shoreline by the heights above. The small harbour itself is not a particularly good natural harbour and is protected from swells by a breakwater that was built with thousands of huge blocks of sandstone quarried out of the face of the mountain above. Simons Town is now in effect a suburb of greater Cape Town. It is the terminus of a railway line that runs south from the central business district of Cape Town. Wake the Town $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Wake the Town is a reggae song recorded by URoy.Jamaican toaster URoy put the country on notice when the refrain Wake the town, tell the people first rang out of dancehalls and clubs in Jamaica in 1970. The song was one of the first major hits of the genre, taking reggae music to the next level, and was the primary inspiration of much of dancehall music for the next generation. The song was a revision of Alton Ellis Girl Ive Got a Date, and the sense of familiarity the song carried, as well as the catchy hook and lyrics sent the song to the top of the Jamaican music charts. The recording that led to the single was initiated when John Holt attended a sound system party, and heard URoy deejay. Holt had just hit it big with Wear You to the Ball, and he convinced URoy and producer Duke Reid to hook up. The duo cut two songs, and Wake the Town was born.
