Garmin 265T update- invalid key code- can’t unlock maps?

I made the mistake of registering my Garmin and downloading a map update. It gave me a product key code that I copied and pasted into notepad. I opened the MapSource software and attempted to unlock online. I put in my serial# and the product key by copying and pasting and it says invalid key code. I can’t be the only one who’s had this problem? Aside from sending this P.O.S. back, how do I unlock the stupid maps? Btw, MapSource shows the map as being unlocked by GPS doesn’t.
I work in a call center and I ABHOR calling tech or software support. I do not have time. That is why I am seeking the answer online. thanks anyway for taking the time to read and answer though.
I also double checked the code online under Mygarmin and the code is the same. There is some sort of issue with nuvi 200′s and the map updates. I see lots of people complaining and no helpful solutions.

Call Garmin and ask them to help you.They will help you over the phone. If you email them, you’ll have to wait a little while for their reply, but they don’t waste time replying- they’re pretty quick. They don’t work on the weekend though. Write the code down and type it in, then try the update again. There may be something funny with notepad. I did something like that a few years ago and they set me up over the hpone so I could complete the update and unlock. If you try to use a copy in another GPS- even the same model, itwon’t work unless you pay for a second unlock code.
