Native American Tribal

are individual native americans entitled to monthly tribal payments?
or is this a myth that “they get a check in the mail” from their tribal reservations/bureau of indian affairs?
you’re HALF right
SOME tribes have Timber, oil, water rights, mineral mines, etc.
THOSE tribes basically ‘profit share’ with their tribal members.
IF your tribe doesn’t have anything, there is no FREE MONEY.
The BIA only gives indians who work for them checks. called payroll, salary etc.
The tribe and the BIA are whole different things.

Native American Tribes in Virginia $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles All of the Commonwealth of Virginia used to be Virginia Indian territory, an area estimated to have been occupied by indigenous peoples for more than 12,000 years. Their population has been estimated to have been about 50,000. Today, tribal members of the eight staterecognized tribes number about 5,000. Collectively they own fewer than 2,000 acres of land. Only two of these tribes, the Pamunkey and Mattaponi, still retain reservation lands assigned by treaties signed with the English in the 1600s.Documentation suggests that Spanish explorers entered what is now Virginia in two separate places decades before the English founded Jamestown. They had charted the eastern Atlantic coastline north of Florida by 1525. In 1609, Ecija, seeking to deny the English claim, asserted that Lucas Vzquez de Ayllns failed colony of San Miguel de Gualdape, which lasted only the three months of winter 152627, had been near Jamestown, but modern scholars place this effort, the first European colony within the US, in Georgia. Invisible Indians: Native Americans in Pennsylvania $176.01 Pennsylvania is one of the few states that neither contains a reservation nor officially recognizes any Native American group. The stance of state government is that there are no Native Americans in the state. However, there is a large and growing community of Native Americans that is growing more active and more frustrated with the states position. Invisible Indians is based on three years of research with Native Americans in Pennsylvania. The authors have crossed the state to attend powwows and tribal meetings, as well as interview individual Indians. Based on several, extensive ethnographic interviews, this book provide an extremely insightful account of Native Americans in Pennsylvania. The book also examines the history of Native American/government relationships within the state, as well as critical issues such as casino gambling and state recognition that are the crux of current negotiations. The book is also about the ways Pennsylvanias Native Americans are reinventing their history and their cultures to meet their own social and psychological (identity) needs. This book is a muchneeded addition to the literature on Native American identity todaythe critical issue in contemporary Native American politics. The book also debunks the official state stance that no Native Americans exist in Pennsylvania. Invisible Indians will be a valuable reference both to social scientists interested in personal identity issues as well as all interested in Pennsylvania cultures and issues.
