How do i download widgets onto my itouch, weather and notes sound really good

I recenty got an ipod touch for my birthday, and some of my friends have the ‘mail’, ‘notes’, ‘weather’ and ‘maps’ icons on their main pages on the ipod touch, I’m really jealous and i want them too! But i don’t know how
