Travel Ideas? Eastern part of the USA.?

So, me and my best friend are going on an “Adventure” in like 2 weeks. We have about a $400-$500 budget. We are starting off from Flint,MI and going….? We are not using a map…just driving, but we want a general destination. We are thinking North Carolina, maybe New York? We have not traveled much between us, but we know we want something on the eastern seaboard, maybe a cool city? Something really unique? We are sleeping in the car to save money, but we both have a week off work and want to see some stuff! So if you live anywhere East or South of Michigan, give me some ideas! thank you all!

You may find Washington, DC somewhat interesting. I don’t know where you’d be able to get away with sleeping in the car, though, unless you find a truck stop somewhere along the way.
One thing to keep inmind is that on the East Coast, a lot of the highways are toll roads. Account for that in your budgeting.
