where is the thuringian forest in germany?

I am doing a map for English because we are reading Escape From Warsaw or The Silver Sword. The book takes place starting in Warsaw Poland and Ending in Switzerland. The characters in the story pass through Posen the Kolina then Berlin then they cross the Elbe in the direction of bitterfield and halle, wherever that is. then, they cross the frontier in the Thuringian forest, then they go through Banvaria then through Falkenburg, then to the Danube then their final destination Lake Constance, Switzerland. All this occurs towards the end of world war two. I AM SO EXASPERATED!! I DONT KNOW WHERE HALF OF THESE PLACES ARE! PLEASE HELP! (if it helps, i do know where Berlin (duh), the Elbe, Warsaw, Banvaira, and Posen are. Thanks!
