Industry Agriculture North

Can someone help me come up with a story about a laborer during the industrial period for my history class?
For my history homework I need to come up with a short story about a laborer from the North or South during the time when the North was advancing in industry and trade with the invention of steam powered engines and the South was advancing with agriculture, like growing cotton. The person can be from either places and the story has to have them moving from where they’re from to the other location and describe what the experience might be like. I’m just looking for some help in starting this because I have no clue how to begin this. Thanks to whoever answers!
Well, industrialization created a lot of new jobs in factories. That would probably be the easiest type of life to write about. I’d starts with describing working conditions which were not only unsafe, but not comfortable. In factories, it was hot, noisy, tedious, and long. Employers wanted to get the most for their money, so would limit break time as much as possible. Also, workers were easy to replace, so the employers made no effort to make their employees feel valuable or special. Workers were paid very little, and what little they made all had to be used to support their families. If your project isn’t due for awhile, I’d read the first two or three chapters of “Sister Carrie” by Theorode Dreiser. It gives good insight into factory life.
Hope I helped! Good luck with your project!

Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing in Japan $58.94 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Agriculture, forestry, and fishing form the primary sector of industry of the Japanese economy, together with the Japanese mining industry, but together they account for only 1.3 of gross national product. Only 15 of Japans land is suitable for cultivation, but the agricultural economy is highly subsidized and protected. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing dominated the Japanese economy until the 1940s, but thereafter declined into relative unimportance. In the late 19th century, these sectors had accounted for more than 80 of employment. Employment in agriculture declined in the prewar period, but the sector was still the largest employer by the end of World War II. It was further declined to 23.5 in 1965, 11.9 in 1977, and to 7.2 in 1988. The importance of agriculture in the national economy later continued its rapid decline, with the share of net agricultural production in GNP finally reduced between 1975 and 1989 from 4.1 to 3 In the late 1980s, 85.5 of Japans farmers were also engaged in occupations outside of farming, and most of these parttime farmers earned most of their income from nonfarming activities. Agriculture as a Mimic of Natural Ecosystems $667.52 This book critically examines the idea that the sustainability of agriculture could be improved by mimicking the structure and processes occurring in natural ecosystems. Researchers from around the world present comparative studies of multispecies farming systems, natural ecosystems and conventional agriculture. Case studies from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and North and South America examine the implications of increasing the complexity of farming systems on water and nutrient cycling, productivity and resilience. Theoretical issues discussed include the role of biodiversity in agriculture, the tradeoff between perenniality and productivity, the choice to integrate or segregate production and conservation in an agricultural landscape, and the social and economic challenges to adopting complex farming systems. One section is devoted to the application of this concept in southern Australia, where 15 million hectares of land are expected to be affected by salinity by the middle of the next century unless there is a significant change in agricultural practice. Zafra (Agriculture) $79.66 The zafra refers to the late summer or early autumn harvest and is a common term in countries with Arabic or Spanish influence. In the Caribbean, the term generally refers to the sugar cane harvest (Rojas: 226). There, the zafra runs from January through May (Gorry and Stanley: 141), whereas in the Mediterranean it occurs in September to October. In each case, however, the zafra was closely tied to the life cycle of sugar. Because in the Caribbean cane is ready for harvest at a time of year different than in Spain or North Africa, the meaning of the term has shifted.
