Grid Maps Worksheet

grid maps worksheet
I’m trying to graph a circle with an inequality in it?? PLEASE help!?

I’m doing a Pre-Calculus assignment worksheet that is basically a probability map. It has you draw lines/graphs and write different letters (H=high prob., M=medium, L=low….) So then you can figure out where to “search for the sunken treasure”, which should be the square or squares with the most H’s inside….

So here is my problem: I am supposed to graph this equation, which I know is the equation for a circle. The thing is, I have no idea how to finish it because it ends with an inequality symbol.

Here is the equation:

(x-4)^2 + (y-5)^2 < 9

I understand that the center of the circle is (4,5) and that the radius should be the square root of 9, which is 3… But the inequality part (<) throws me off completely. I'm supposed to put an H in all the grid spaces that circle covers, I guess… My teacher can be a butt and won't always answer our questions so I am really frustrated and this worksheet is due at the beginning of class tomorrow.

PLEASE help me!!

With an equal sign, it is eqn of a circle as you described.

with the INEQUALITY, the (x,y) values are such that the left side of the equation is always less than 9.

I would draw the graph like this (not counting your H,M,L):
DOTTED LINE FOR THE CIRCLE (dotted line indicated circle is a boundary, but not part of solution … its less than).
SHADE the AREA IN THE CIRCLE. … all values INSIDE
the Circle satisfy the equation.

I don;t know how this fits with your grids…
…”H’s” in squares completely INSIDE the circle??
“M” in squares that the circle passes thru?
“L” in squares completely outside the circle?

gl.

Students in a school may have fillintheblank sheets of questions, diagrams, or maps to help them with their exercises. Students will often use worksheets to review what has been taught in class. A worksheet generator is a software program that generates problems, particularly in mathematics or numeracy. Such software is often used by teachers to make classroom materials and tests. Grid Reference

Grid Reference

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Grid references define locations on maps using Cartesian coordinates. Grid lines on maps define the coordinate system, and are numbered to provide a unique reference to features. Grid systems vary, but the most common is a square grid with grid lines numbered sequentially from the origin at the bottom left of the map. The grid numbers on the eastwest (horizontal) axis are called Eastings, and the grid numbers on the northsouth (vertical) axis are called Northings. Numerical grid references consist of an even number of digits. Eastings are given before Northings. Thus in a 6 digit grid reference 123456, the Easting component is 123 and the Northing component is 456. Grids may be arbitrary, or based on specific distances, for example the United Kingdom Ordnance Survey maps use a onekilometre square grid spacing. Maps show us where things are in the world with abstract pictures of what is in view. Many maps have grid coordinates that make it easier to locate where something is. A vertical grid line is known as longitude and a horizontal line is known as latitude. Symbols and keys are important parts of maps. A scale helps us know how far apart things are from each other in real life. Compasses also help us know the direction on a map. There are many different types of maps such as street maps tourist maps population maps and landuse maps. Author: Moira Anderson. Format: Paperback. Pages: 32. Publish Date: October 10 2008. The British national grid reference system is a system of geographic grid references commonly used in Great Britain, different from using latitude and longitude. The Ordnance Survey devised the national grid reference system, and it is heavily used in their survey data, and in maps based on those surveys. Grid references are also commonly quoted in other publications and data sources, such as guide books or government planning documents. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles This is a worksheet for Covariant classical field theory. n recent years, there has been renewed interest in covariant classical field theory. Here, classical fields are represented by sections of fiber bundles and their dynamics is phrased in the context of a finitedimensional space of fields. Nowadays, it is well known that jet bundles and the variational bicomplex are the correct domain for such a description. The Hamiltonian variant of covariant classical field theory is the covariant Hamiltonian field theory where momenta correspond to derivatives of field variables with respect to all world coordinates.
