What GIS softwares do I need to produce a digital soil map using data from soil survey & laboratory analysis?

I want the name of any GIS software I can use to produce a digital soil map of an area using information gathered during soil survey and laboratory analysis of the soil samples.

Dear Raymond,
Your pertinent question and urgent curiosity has unfortunately, been buried under more legitimate concerns. If you don’t get an answer within 24 hours, it is best to delete your query and ask again.
Raymond, I would like to take this opportunity to express my personal opinion. You have been foolish, Raymond. Very, very foolish. Anyone can see that the purpose of Yahoo! Answers is to serve as a modern chatroom. More and more, Java programming is becoming less and less supported, there is no other method of bringing people together in a social environment than to create PHP scripts where the “thinking” can be done on the server rather than on your machine. With that in mind, Raymond, you should interrogate the shallow-minded participants of Yahoo! Answers with matters that appeal to their common denominator. Questions such as, “How long is the normal tally whacker?” or, “My boyfriend says I should dump my hubby, what you think?”…, would get you a substantial number of replies.
Give up your pursuit of truth and petty wonders, Raymond. Quit asking bland, colorless questions. Are you naive? No person who is capable of giving you the answer you hoped for can last while reading though a heap of puddings, pies and pastry. I’m only doing you a favor, Raymond, by giving you a proper admonishment you can now begin to formulate an apology. When you are ready, send your atonement to http://surveys.yahoo.com/user_ad_feedback
And Raymond, if you insist upon asking serious questions, remember that a few good jolts from a peace officer’s tazor should bring you around to your senses. Please, check your spelling and throw some slang into the mix so you don’t offend any of the egos lurking, waiting to pounce on you with crass, thoughtless one-liners.

Thank you Raymond, and have a great day!
-Zach

Usability Evaluation of WebBased GIS Applications

Usability Evaluation of WebBased GIS Applications

$97.19

The use of geographical data is increasing in real world applications and due to this, Geographical information systems (GIS)are a growing interest area for research nowadays.Today, GIS is combined with the world wide web to provide information to alot of people. Webbased GIS applications have gained popularity because of their easy use and simplicity. Usability evaluation is becoming important part of interaction design to find out various usability isses in applications. In this study, two webbased GIS applications i.e. Google maps and MapsQuest are evaluated to find out usability issues. To accomplish the main goal of this study, differnt techniques have been used.Special creiteria are adopted for usability evaluation. Usability tests are performed on six graduate users, questionnaires are filled by these users and interviews were conducted to validate the results. The authors have provided a number of suggestions based on the problems that were identified in this study for google maps and MapsQuest to improve the usability of these applications. Distributed GIS: Federation and Performance Evaluations

Distributed GIS: Federation and Performance Evaluations

$132.24

Geographic information is critical for many earth related geoscience applications such as building disaster planning, crisis management, earlywarning systems and urban planning. Decision making in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) increasingly relies on analyses of spatial data in mapbased formats. Maps are complex structures composed of layers created from distributed heterogeneous data belonging to the separate organizations. This thesis presents a distributed service architecture for managing the production of knowledge from distributed collections of archived observations and simulation data through integrated dataviews. Integrated views are defined by a federation service ( federator ) located on top of the standard service components. Common GIS standards enable the construction of this system. However, compliance requirements for interoperability, such as XMLencoded data and domain specific data characteristics, have costs and performance overhead. We investigate issues of combining standard compliance with performance. Although our framework is designed for GIS, we extend the principles and requirements to general science domains.
