looking for one particularly in the chicago area. i live in arlington heights illinois and the fema blast area map shows that my location is virtualy surrounded by nuclear blasts i am just nw of the city of chicago. i desperately need to know where a public shelter is. if there is no public shelter than that is a travesty and someone needs to do something. i have searched the entire internet and found nothing so i am hoping someone out there knows. pleeeeaaasssee

Fallout shelters do exist all over Illinois, but the locations will not be disclosed unless an emergency happens.

The Illinois

The Illinois

$79.66

The Mile High Illinois, Illinois SkyCity, or simply The Illinois was a proposed milehigh (1,609 meters/5,280 feet) skyscraper, envisioned by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956. The design, intended to be built in Chicago, would have included 528 stories, with a gross area of 18.46 million square feet (1.71 million square meters/171 hectares). Had it been built, it would be the tallest building in the world. This is arguably the most famous of the semiserious visionary buildings meant to be an alternative to the increasing urban sprawl occurring in most cities. None of these have ever been viewed as financially feasible. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
