Campton New Hampshire a Top Destination for Outdoor Recreation
A small town of about 2,600 at the edge of New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Campton is a great place to stay to enjoy the area’s many recreational opportunities. Just a couple of hours from Boston, Campton is a great spot to get away from the urban life for a while.
You will feel the stress and worries of your daily life lift from your mind as you leave the highway and drive onto New Hampshire’s rural back roads. The heavily forested and hilly scenery contributes to the sense of serenity that the quiet of the White Mountains provides. In spring, summer and fall, you often only hear the rustling of leaves and creaking of trees as the breezes winds its way through Campton’s woods. In the winter even the sound of wind and trees is quieted by the blanket of snow covering everything.
There are many ways to enjoy and explore the gorgeous scenery of Campton, New Hampshire. You can hike your way around the White Mountain National Forest, take in the views from the peaks of the White Mountains, drive or bike on winding, scenic roads, canoe on and swim in the Pemigewasset and Mad rivers, and fish on the many ponds in the area. Some tings you might see on your scenic drive include covered bridges, waterfalls, moose and other wildlife, and in the fall, of course, magnificent foliage.
During summer and fall, golfers will enjoy the Owl’s Nest Golf Course in Campton, and can easily reach a number of other courses in a short drive. Other White Mountains attractions are just a short distance away, including Whales Tale Water Park and Hobo Railroad scenic train rides. There is also the annual Pemi Valley Bluegrass Festival in August.
Campton’s main attraction in the winter, however, is its proximity to multiple ski resorts. The closest is Waterville Valley Resort, which is right up the road from downtown Campton. Waterville Valley typically opens in November and features restaurants, condos and shops in its Village Square. In addition to Waterville’s 52 trails, 2000-foot vertical drop and 11 lifts, there are multiple terrain parks as well as a Nordic Ski Center. Waterville can accommodate skiers of all abilities.
Other nearby ski resorts include Cannon Mountain, Loon Mountain and Tenney Mountain. Campton also isn’t far from the town of Plymouth, which has restaurants, theater and a college, and the outlet shopping destination of North Conway, which also has many restaurants and nightlife.
There are very few hotels or motels in Campton since it is such a small, rural town. But that doesn’t mean there is no place to stay in Campton. There are dozens of private vacation homes for rent, as well as condos at Waterville Valley Resort. The variety of Campton vacation rentals available will give you the option of putting yourself closest to the activities you most enjoy. Rent a condo in Waterville Valley to be close to the slopes, or rent a Campton vacation home high on a hill in the woods for a great view of northern New Hampshire.

Provincial Highways in Ontario $71.7 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Ontario Ministry of Transportation maintains the system of provincial highways in the Canadian province of Ontario. Ontario has several distinct classes of highways (French voie publique): Kings Highways, (which includes Controlledaccess highways) and secondary highways, with individual highways referred to as that part of the Kings Highway known as No. xx, or simply the Kings Highway known as No. xx. For the purposes of legal jurisdiction, however, the Highway Traffic Act deems that tertiary roads are also considered to be Kings Highways (French route principale). The term the Kings Highway, first adopted in place of provincial highway in 1930, has been deprecated since the 1990s, and the old signs were replaced circa 1993. Currently these highways are again designated provincial highways or provincially maintained highways by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. My Northern Exposure: The Kawa at the Pole $20.79 OF INTEREST TO: fans of humorous fiction In polar travel the last ten miles are invariably the hardest. One is spent and exhausted. Ice conditions north of eightyseven are increasingly difficult. Absolutely nothing has been done by either Canadian or United States Governments toward keeping the national highways in condition. Raftered floes, composed of sheets of twentyfoot ice, piled up like badly shuffled playing cards, often directly oppose ones progress. MY NORTHERN EXPOSURE: The only highway comparable to the above, in my experience, is the main street of Portchester, N.Y., which has been torn up since the memory of man. Some of the rocks in the middle of this thoroughfare are of volcanic origin. The detours are even worse. from Chapter V In the 1920s, inspired by the fad for works of reallife adventure and the dry wit of the Algonquin Roundtable, New York architect GEORGE SHEPARD CHAPPELL (18771946), egged on by his friend George Putnam of the publishing house GP Putnams Sons, wrote a series of satirical books about the explorations of the entirely invented Dr. Walter E. Traprock, captain of the yacht Kawa, and his journeys around the world. This, the second spoof in the series, was published in 1922, and details the overthetop bravery of Traprock and his crew as they encounter dangerous polar ice and ridiculously noble natives. The many accompanying photographs of the expedition are clearly faked, and quite hilarious. The deadpan attitude and ironic pretense of Chappells writing is as fresh and funny today, in the era of The Onion and Jon Stewart, as it was almost a century ago. Author: Trapock, Walter E. Binding Type: Paperback Number of Pages: 248 Publication Date: 2006/07/01 Language: English Dimensions: 5.98 x 9.01 x 0.56 inches |

Destination Hotel $63.73 Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. A destination hotel is a hotel whose location and amenities make the hotel itself a destination for tourists, rather than merely a convenient place to stay while traveling through or visiting the area for other reasons. Destination hotels are also called destination lodgings and sometimes destination resorts. The market for destination hotels is the subject of academic and business analysis. Since the 1800s, the traditional concept of a destination hotel has been based upon a venue which is typically remote and has a natural feature as its attraction. For example, the Kviknes Hotel in Norway is a difficult to reach remote location which provides visitors access to the scenic fjord at Balestrand. Historically there were certain builtin amenities such as gourmet cuisine, music recitals and shoreline trails; however, the amenities of modern (post 1980) destination hotels dwarf the scale of these earlier models.
