6 New Year’s Resolutions Every Motorbike Fan Should Keep
Here are just a few tips designed to ensure 2010 is not only the year of the Tiger, it’s also the Year of the Biker:
Make the most of your motorcycle
There’s no point in having a powerful, preened machine if you only use it once a year. Real bikers enjoy the freedom of the open road every week – and biking to work doesn’t count!
Stop leaving your bike unlocked
It’s a common crime for riders. But come on guys, there are plenty of good quality disk and cable locks around. They don’t always come cheap but paying out for one is better than having some grubby chav nick off with your ride while you were picking up the fish and chips.
Get involved with a biking group
They’re sometimes quite hard to find and the occasional biking clan can be a bit clique-y but having a group of like-minded mates to ride alongside can make the difference between a dreary trudge down a miserable lane to a roaring group event full of friendly banter. Plus riding with a group is a great excuse to head off down the pub afterwards.
Lose it once you’ve used it
Remember that bump you had last summer? Well if your helmet was knocked or dented its ability to protect you in a crash will have been completely compromised. Helmets are only designed to put up with one impact – after that their internal structure is damaged, meaning they won’t cushion your head properly in a crash. Use it as an excuse for an upgrade.
Be more ambitious
Planning new routes is easy. Sites like Google Maps let you put in multiple destinations and plot the best roads to use. You can print off quick directions. So go to Scotland, get out to Ireland, tour the coast.
Tell me about it
After you’ve been on a great ride you will want to let the world know and one of the easiest ways to record and share your adventures is on a blog. You can set up your own at Blogger.com or WordPress.com very easily and use it like a diary, adding an entry each time you’ve been out with the wind in your hair. You can even add the inevitable embarrassing photographs of you in your leathers!
Okay, you’re not going to change the world with these resolutions – but you can always join the gym and organise your filing next year – 2010 is dedicated to having some serious fun.

Clan McDuck $73.28 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Clan McDuck is a fictional family in the style of a Scottish clan, from which a great number of Walt Disney Companys comic book characters held their origin. According to Don Rosas timelines the Clan is known since 122 A.D., when an, as of yet, unnamed member of the clan sold stone to the construction crew of Hadrians wall. The Clan McDuck was originally called the Clan MacDuich, but dropped the Gaelic spelling of the name in 1071 and became the McDucks. The most famous members of the clan are Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck. This has been expanded on in the Italian Disney comic universe in the story Storia e gloria della dinastia dei paperi (History and glory of the duck dynasty). According to it, the clan was founded during the 1st century BC by PahPehRheo, an Egyptian, who had become a Roman citizen as Petronius Paperonius. Originally following a campaign of the Roman Army to Britain, he eventually decided to settle in Caledonia (the Roman name for Scotland) among the populations of the Picts. Clan Munro $70.1 Clan Munro, Scottish clan, Earl of Ross, Donald Munro of Foulis, OCeann, Foulis Castle, Malcolm II of Scotland, Battle of Largs, George Munro, 5th Baron of Foulis Clan Munro. The main theory as to the origin of the clan is that the Munros came from Ireland and settled in Scotland in the 11th century and that they fought as mercenary soldiers under the Earl of Ross who defeated Viking invaders in Rosshire. The clan under chief Donald Munro, son of OCeann were granted lands in Rosshire and a seat at Foulis Castle as a reward for helping King Malcolm II of Scotland to defeat Viking invaders from Scandinavia. The clan name, Munro which in Gaelic is Rothach, Roich, or Mac an Rothaich, means RoMan or Man from Ro. This supports the tradition that the clan was originally from the River Ro area in Ireland. Traditionally, Donalds grandson Hugh Munro was the first Munro recorded to be authentically designated Baron of Foulis, he died in 1126. A reliable scholar, Alexander Nisbet stated that George Munro, 5th Baron of Foulis received a charter from the Earl of Sutherland during the reign of Alexander II of Scotland, but this charter can no longer be traced. It is also said that the Munros fought in support of Alexander III of Scotland against the Norwegian forces of Haakon IV of Norway at the Battle of Largs in 1263 and as a result had all their lands in Rossshire confirmed to them by the King. They are usually worn in a bonnet behind the Scottish crest badge, or attached at the shoulder of a ladys tartan sash. According to popular lore clan badges were used by Scottish clans as a means of identification in battle. Xhosa Clan Names $66.91 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Xhosa clan names are family names which are considered more important than surnames. Much like the clan system of Scotland, each Xhosa person can trace their family history back to a specific male ancestor or stock. Mentioning the clan name of someone you wish to thank is the highest form of respect, and it is considered polite to enquire after someones clan name when you meet them. The clan name is also sometimes used as an exclamation by members of that clan. When a woman marries she may take her husbands surname, but she always keeps her own clan name, adding the prefix Ma to it. A man and a woman who have the same clan name may not marry, as they are considered to be related. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
